Shelving Beltline Rail a Mistake Says Ex-Beltline Engagement Director

Dear BRN Subscriber,

This spring has seen Mayor Dickens do an about-face on Beltline rail. His request of the MARTA Board to abandon the first section of Beltline rail to the opportunity centers on the Eastside Trail could set the project back up to a decade.  In Sunday’s AJC, we hear from Beth McMillan, who was the Director of Community Engagement at Atlanta Beltline Inc for 15 years before retiring in 2022. In that role, Beth became known as a leader in shaping the very idea of engagement on the big city-wide project that the Beltline is.  Her memory of what the Beltline is and how it came to be is important at a time like this.
