Atlanta City Council Unanimously Reaffirms Beltline Rail

🚊 CITY COUNCIL AFFIRMS ATLANTA’S COMMITMENT TO BELTLINE RAIL 🚊
Yesterday afternoon, the Atlanta City Council voted unanimously to reaffirm Atlanta’s commitment to light rail along all 22 miles of the Beltline.
Thank you to Councilmember Kelsea Bond (D2), who introduced the resolution; to the entire City Council; and to the countless volunteers and supporters who called, emailed, and showed up at meetings to make your voices heard. This is a moment to celebrate, and we are grateful to everyone who helped make it possible.
This vote is a major milestone, but it isn’t the end of the story.
The resolution calls on the Mayor’s Office, MARTA, Atlanta Beltline, Inc., and other City partners to present paths forward for funding, prioritization, implementation, and the other steps necessary to move Beltline rail forward, with an update due by January 26, 2027.
Between now and then, we need to help ensure our policymakers have answers to those questions, and that yesterday’s commitment becomes meaningful action.
