We’d like to thank those of you who attended the MARTA Board meeting on 2/12. Your participation really mattered, and people are taking notice. We’re still unhappy with MARTA's lack of accountability and transparency regarding Beltline rail. Are you still disgusted by the waste of $9.1 million and 7 years of planning for Streetcar East, without a single word of public comment and without an official report from MARTA? We think you are. But what is there to do about this now since it’s already happened, right? Hopefully, MARTA will appear before the Atlanta Transportation Committee at Wednesday’s meeting to explain what happened with the secret vote and why they didn’t notify the City Council.
We're asking everyone to please comment again at the Atlanta City Council Transportation Meeting this Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at 10:00 AM in the Larry M. Dingle Committee Room 1 on the 2nd floor to speak up and ask about why and how this happened.
We need to call for comment on:
Council’s role in More MARTA
How can they reform the Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA)
Consequences of having a 4th reprioritization of the program being no rail this decade
The urgent need for all 22 miles of Beltline rail
A few other important tips:
Arrive early — the room is small, and conference rooms can change
Sign up to speak by 9:30 AM — names must be on the list by then
Driving? Leave plenty of time — downtown traffic was brutal at the last meeting
Hope to see you there!
We have several talking points, so if you’re not sure what to say, please reach out, and we’ll help. We need everyone to show up, in your BRN T-Shirts if possible, to support Beltline Rail. We will have a limited number available at 9:30 before the meeting. We need them to know that voting against rail is not what Atlanta's citizens want or what they voted for.
