BeltLine Rail Now!

Let 'em hear your voice!

Now's your last chance to join hundreds of transit supporters who stepped up last week to demand Atlanta leaders keep their promises and deliver light rail along the BeltLine faster.

If you've already signed the BeltLine Rail Now petition and emailed the Atlanta Regional Commission (ARC), there's one more thing that could really make a difference ... ask three friends to do the same.

As things stand now, the ARC’s Regional Transportation Plan projects rail on the BeltLine won’t be completed until at least the mid-2040s.

The plan directly affects what projects get federal funding. It’s only updated every four years, and the window for public comment closes December 13.

So by Friday, we need transit supporters to speak out and weigh in on the plan. This is a big deal -- every emailed comment must receive a response and be delivered to MARTA.

We have built an e-mail for you, which you can personalize. All you have to do is click the button below.

Let them know:

  • Installing rail along the BeltLine, as intended from the  beginning, would help correct the negative unintended consequences of gentrification.

  • BeltLine rail would best deliver equity, affordability, sustainability and mobility to all of Atlanta.

  • You want to see Atlanta's half-cent transit tax pay for project that make Atlanta commuters the top priority.

  • You want to see Ryan Gravel's vision of the BeltLine as a project that connects all Atlantans to jobs, destinations and opportunity become a reality in your lifetime.

  • You want to see the first rails in service along the BeltLine within three years.

  • You want to see rail along the BeltLine faster than the inadequate timeline now in the works.

Atlanta can’t wait until the 2030s and 2040s for transit that connects the 45 neighborhoods along the BeltLine corridor.

Since we first asked for your help with this campaign, we’ve gotten some attention online, on radio and on television. More than 200 of you have weighed in so far -- and Atlanta’s new Transportation Commissioner, Josh Rowan, told WABE he's read all of them.

If you’ve already reached out, thank you for taking the time to make yourself heard. If you’ve got another few minutes, please share this with two or three friends.

And if you want to deliver the message in person, you can still attend the ARC’s Transportation Coordinating Committee meeting that morning at 9:30 at their offices downtown. You can sign up starting at 9 am at 229 Peachtree St., suite 100.

People like you turned the BeltLine from a graduate student’s thesis to a reality. Your support forced planners to include rail on the entire 22-mile loop last year when they were about to let two-thirds of the route go unbuilt. Now it’s time to get this train rolling.

Please join us in speaking up.
